The New Landlord is the third episode of Season Four of Three's Company, and the 56th overall episode of the series. Co-written by Michael S. Baser and Kim weiskopf and directed by Dave Powers, it first aired 25 September 1979 on ABC.

Summary[]

Ralph Furley, the new landlord, gets off on the wrong foot with the roommates. The situation only worsens when the gang accidentally sells his furniture, thinking it was the Ropers' old junk. Furley gives the roommates 24 hours to get out, until he meets (and falls for) Lana, who convinces him to let Jack and the girls stay.

Trivia[]

  • This is Don Knotts' first appearance in the role of Ralph Furley.
  • All of the actors are wearing the same clothing they wear in the opening credits sequence for this season, suggesting that the opening sequence was shot on the same day.
  • When Janet and Chrissy are at The Regal Beagle, the garage sale sign that Janet holds up at the table says Sunday the 31st. There were no Sundays that fell on the 31st in 1979 when this episode was taped.

Quotes[]

  • Janet: You can't kick us out! You wouldn't be able to sleep at night!
Mr. Furley: I can't sleep anyway, you sold my bed!
