Frances Lee McCain (born July 28, 1944), also sometimes credited as Lee McCain, appeared as Kelly, a waitress friend of the roommates who works at The Regal Beagle in the Season 5 episode of Three's Company titled "And Baby Makes Four".
Amongst her numerous TV and film appearances, Frances is perhaps best known for her roles as Lorraine Baines's mother Stella Baines in the first Back to the Future film, as Lynn Peltzer, the mother of main character Billy Peltzer in the 1984 blockbuster hit film Gremlins, and also as the mother of Rose McGowan's character, and Patch Adams (1998). Frances also had a notable role as the female lead character, Barbara Apple, opposite actor Ronny Cox, who played her husband George, in the 1974-76 CBS-TV series Apple's Way.
Frances has an established resume on stage as well as in films, having appeared on Broadway in Woody Allen's Play it Again Sam, and off-Broadway in Lanford Wilson's Lemon Sky, creating the role of Carol. A San Diego, California native who also spent her early years in upstate New York, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, McCain graduated from Ripon College with a BA in Philosophy and then studied acting for three years at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England.
