A Man About The House was the third and actual official pilot episode shot for Three's Company. Based upon the story used in the second pilot episode shot which featured Susan Lanier in the role of Chrissy, this episode, in which Suzanne Somers assumes the role of Chrissy for the first time, first appeared on ABC-TV, airing on March 15, 1977. The episode was written the executive producers of the series, Don Nicholl, Michael Ross, and Bernie West.

Plot summary

Brunette Janet Wood (Joyce DeWitt), who works in a florist shop, and Chrissy Snow (Suzanne Somers), a guileless blonde typist, find Jack Tripper (John Ritter) asleep in their bathtub following a party for their ex-roommate. The two girls, who lack culinary skills, decide to share the apartment and expenses with Jack when they learn he is studying to be a gourmet chef. But first they have to find a way to overcome objections from their landlords, Stanley (Norman Fell) and Helen Roper (Audra Lindley), a romantically frustrated couple who live downstairs.
